French Toast with Brown Butter Apples

Ingredients

  • 4 Slices bread
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 Cup milk
  • 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 Apples peeled cored and cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 Cup butter
  • 3 Tablespoons water
  • 1/3 Cup pecans chopped
  • 4 strips bacon

Instructions

  • In a medium sized skillet set over medium high heat add the butter until melted. Add the apples and stir well. Reduce heat to medium low, add the brown sugar, water and cover. Cook apples for a further 10 minutes, checking and stirring occasionally. Remove skillet from heat and pour apples along with the browned butter in a dish and set aside.
  • Cook the bacon. Remove from pan and cut up or crumble. Set aside.
  • Whisk together the eggs, milk and cinnamon. Dip the bread in the egg mixture and coat on each side. Place in the reserved skillet and cook on each side until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Serve French toast topped with warm apples, pecans and crispy bacon. Drizzle over remaining browned butter. Serve immediately.
