An all time take out favourite, Beef & Broccoli Noodle Stir Fry! Why not add it to your dinner menu this week. Tender pieces of beef in a quick spicy marinade, and cooked to perfection with fresh broccoli and stir fried noodles. Dishes like this one and my Sweet and Sour Pork Stir Fry make great week night dinners.

I don’t know how I’ve been writing this food blog for more than three years without adding this recipe.  Because it sure isn’t new to me.  Let’s just say it’s been around the block a few times.  Much like my Shrimp & Broccoli Rice Bowls, and the Pork and Broccoli Stir Fry in an Orange Sauce, it’s featured often. Dozens of times, probably. Come on, it’s a take out classic! Alternatively, my Parmesan Topped Mushroom & Leek Stir Fry is a great Vegetarian option.

If you don’t like beef, you easily substitute chicken in this recipe.  Then again, if you don’t like beef, I reckon you won’t be reading this recipe…ha!

I used fillet steak in this recipe because it’s a thin cut as well as budget friendly.  And lets face it, who isn’t trying to cut corners on dinner.  I seem to spend my life trying to find new ways to reinvent the week.  The frugal wheel that is.  However, not at a cost to taste and freshness.  And I am fortunate to live in a place where fresh ingredients are available year round and affordable. ¡Viva España!

So, if you are looking to recreate a take out classic, give it a try.  It’s quick, tasty and not too heavy on the wallet.  If you’re not a fan of the fillet steak, you could substitute a different cut.  But honestly, this worked great in this recipe.  It cooks quick and was tender and not chewy at all.  Which, I know is how many people associate the cheaper cuts of meat.  If I were cooking steak on it’s own, I wouldn’t chose this cut at all.  But in a stir fry it works great!

Notes about the stir fry

  • The key to any stir fry is organization!  I go on and on about this, but it’s key.  Make sure you have all your ingredients chopped, prepared and ready to go. As well as the pans, seasoning and such.  Stir frys are best served as soon as they are cooked (I know not always possible), but in an ideal world..ha!
  • Also, cooking more than one thing at a time is important.  You will see in the recipe below that three different things need to be going on the stove for this dish.  So, make sure you got them all ready.  Start cooking things when you see they are going to be needed.  For example the wok gets started first, then the beef in a separate pan and last the noodles because they are the quickest.  I know I am stating the obvious, but for first time cooks this might not seem obvious.  I’ve been there many a time in the beginning not knowing I should have more than one pan going at a time.

So get your multi tasking on and make the stir fry!  It’s easy, tasty and a great mid week meal.  A great way to start the week!
