It doesn’t get a whole lot easier than this decadent and delicious Easy Tiramisu recipe. A take on the classic Italian dessert without using eggs. It’s put together in just about 15 minutes and there is no baking required. A coffee flavoured dessert with layers of sweetened mascarpone cheese and topped with a dusting of cocoa powder.

Have you ever tried tiramisu? I first tried it about 20 years ago and was hooked at first bite! Honestly, it’s so decadent and delicious. Traditionally, Tiramisu uses eggs but this recipe is “inspired” using very easy and no fail ingredients. This dish, layers coffee soaked sponge layers between a sweetened and creamy mascarpone filling.
Mascarpone cheese is wonderful in desserts like the Mascarpone Buttercream Topped Chocolate Cupcakes and the Mascarpone Pistachio Cookies. And this Tiramisu is no exception in the delicious factor!

What is This Tiramisu Like
- Difficulty – This is a very easy no bake dessert using minimal ingredients. Just be careful when dipping the biscuits in coffee so they don’t fall apart.
- Taste – A lightly sweetened mascarpone filling with coffee soaked biscuits give this dessert a grown up flavour that is the perfect after dinner dessert.
- Serving – This recipe will make approximately 9 servings. You could probably even stretch it a bit further if you make smaller pieces. Remember, all recipe servings can be adjusted in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Ingredients
- Whipping cream – Use unsweetened whipping cream. It can be purchased in the chiller section of your supermarket.
- Sugar – Granulated white sugar adds sweetness to the filling.
- Vanilla – Vanilla extract enhances the flavours of the filling.
- Mascarpone cheese – This is a soft Italian cheese that is sold in tubs in the chiller section. It’s smooth and has a mild flavour.

Instructions
- Prepare dish – Have ready a deep sided 8 x 8 inch baking dish. Set aside.
- Make filling – In a large mixing bowl, add the whipping cream, granulated white sugar and vanilla extract. Mix on high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the mascarpone cheese and continue to mix on high speed until light and fluffy, about one to two minutes more. Set aside.
- Assemble tiramisu – Quickly dip the lady fingers, on at a time, in the brewed coffee. Careful not to dip too long or they will fall apart. Cover the entire bottom of the baking dish with the coffee soaked lady fingers. Evenly spread over about half of the mascarpone whipped cream. Repeat another layer with the coffee soaked lady fingers. Evenly spread over remaining mascarpone whipped cream.
- Chill – Cover and refrigerate for at lease three hours to overnight.
- Dust with cocoa and serve – When ready to serve, remove from fridge and dust with cocoa powder. Cut into squares and serve cold.

Recipe Tips
- Soaking the lady fingers – You want to dip the fingers so they are completely coated. However, be careful not to soak them or they will completely fall apart.
- Whipping cream – It’s always best to use cold cream, a cold bowl and cold beaters. Whipping cream is very sensitive to heat and may not whip stiff enough if the cream isn’t cold.
- For best results serve the next day – Although you can absolutely serve the the day you make it, the second day it is best. The flavours have completely combined and the texture is set and wonderful.

Substitutions
- Lady fingers – If you don’t have lady fingers, you could use a vanilla sponge cake or pound cake in it’s place. It will be slightly different but it will still work out and be delicious.
- Brewed coffee – Instant coffee will work as well, but make sure to make it strong enough to get a good coffee flavour.

Serving and Storage
- Serving – Tiramisu is best served cold from the fridge for best flavours. I like to serve it with some fresh berries on the side for a little something extra.
- Storage – Keep this stored in the fridge for up to three days. Make sure it covered in an airtight container. You can also keep in stored in a freezer friendly dish for up to two weeks. Allow it to completely defrost in the fridge before serving.
