What is This Sausage Dinner Like
- Difficulty โ Make this for a quick and easy dinner. It can all be prepped ahead of time and popped in the fridge before cooking time.
- Tasteย โ If you love sausages and hearty meals, youโll love this dinner idea! A complete meal of spiced Bratwurst sausages with soft roasted vegetables.
- Serving โ This recipe makes four generous servings.
Ingredients
- Bratwurst sausages – I used about one pound of Bratwurst sausages for this dinner. Bratwurst sausages are quite fat German sausages. You should be able to find them in most grocery stores.
- Potatoes – Any kind of a roasting potato will work well for this recipe. You can keep the skin on or feel them if you prefer.
- Green Beans – Fresh green beans will work best for this recipe.
- Red Onion – I liked the colour and flavour of the sharp red onion.
- Olive oil – Just regular olive oil was drizzled over this dinner before baking.
- Garlic powder – I decided to just go with garlic powder for a little extra flavour.
- Salt – Regular table salt to add flavour.
- Pepper – Fresh cracked black pepper adds a little punch of flavour.
NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.
Instructions
- Preheat oven – Preheat oven to 400 degrees F/200 degrees C. Have ready a large baking tray.

- Season – Drizzle over olive oil and season with garlic powder, salt and black pepper. Stir it up well to make sure it’s evenly coated.
- Roast – Roast in the oven between 30 – 40 minutes until fully cooked. Remove from oven at about 20 minutes and shake the pan to loosen the vegetables and sausages. Return to oven to complete cooking.
- Serving – Remove from oven when fully cooked and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately.
Recipe Tips
- Pan size and typeย โ I used a large low rimmed baking sheet for this dinner. As you can see the food nestled in nicely. By not having space around the sausages or vegetables, the food will produce more pan juices.
- Evenly cut vegetablesย โ When cutting the vegetables, try to make them as close to the same size as possible. Uneven sized vegetables will cook differently and you may end up with overcooked or under cooked vegetables.
Substitutions
- Bratwurst sausages – You can use any kind of large sausages for this recipe. If you prefer to use Italian sausages or any other pork or chicken sausages.
- Potatoes – I really liked this recipe with potatoes, but you could use sweet potatoes or even pumpkin.
- Vegetables – You could use asparagus or broccoli florets.
Serving
This is a complete dinner in one pan, but you can add some sauces or sides if you what to make it a bigger meal. Try serving it with the Caramelized Onion Gravy or the Creamy Mushroom Sauce for a richer dinner.
