Wake up to a fresh and delicious smoothie today. This Mango and Berry Smoothie is packed full of bursting berries and fresh mango. Made with fresh mangoes, strawberries, raspberries and milk. This is not only a great breakfast idea, but an afternoon pick me up or just a refreshing smoothie as a dessert!
I think today is probably the coldest day of the year. No joke, almost freezing when I left the house this morning. As I was walking out the door just before 9 am I took at look at the thermometer, which read 3 degrees Celsius. That is freezing for us southern Spanish folks. I don’t know when I became such a lightweight with the cold, but over the years I have morphed into a southern girl that is for sure. I remember spending hours in the snow in Newfoundland and not thinking anything of it other than, that’s life. Now, temp drops below 15 degrees and I am breaking out the parka.
In light of an absolutely freezing cold morning, I needed cheering up with some summer fruits, or winter fruits in this case. I was cruising around the supermarket, list in hand and getting distracted by everything in sight, when I saw mangoes half off. I’ll take some of those please, Then on to strawberries and raspberries. Got home and instead of going for a steaming cup of tea I went for an ice cold smoothie. Might not be what you are looking for on this cold February morning, but keep it in mind when the sun starts to warm us all up later on.
And if you love frozen treats in winter, check out my Raspberry & Blueberry Frozen Yogurt Pops. Great all year long. And for something a little fancier, why not check out the Boozy Fruit Cups!
Notes on The Mango Berry Smoothie
- I didn’t add sugar to this smoothie as I think the fruit adds enough natural sugar. You could easily add in a little sugar if you like and a dash of vanilla to dessert it up a bit.
- Okay I used fresh fruit and berries. YES, you can use frozen berries. In fact, I’ve made this with frozen berries and even preferred it that way.
- This recipe will also work using plain or Greek yogurt in place of milk.
Make it Dairy Free
- Just substitute any of your favourte non dairy milks and you will have a dairy free smoothie. Soy, Rice, Almond or Oat milk are all good choices here.
Well friends that’s just about it for this smoothie. Enjoy the recipe and I’ll see you all really soon with some more delicious recipes to share.
