What Is This Fall Appetizer Like
- Difficulty – This recipe requires only 6 ingredients and takes less than 20 minutes from start to finish. It’s a very easy recipe!
- Taste – This has a light and fresh flavour. The bread is crisp with a creamy cheese and a crunch from the apple.
- Serving – You will get about 14 – 16 small crostini appetizers for this recipe. Keep in mind at the end of the post in the recipe card you can easily adjust the serving sizes.

Ingredients
- Baguette – You can level this up using a Homemade Baguette or store bought like I did here!
- Olive oil – Extra virgin olive oil is drizzled over the bread before toasting in the oven.
- Brie cheese – This is a common French cheese that you will find in most supermarkets in the chiller section. It’s a soft mild flavoured cheese with a rind.
- Apples – Make sure to use a sharp apple. Apples like Fuji, Pink Lady and Honeycrisp will all work really well.
- Arugula – – This is a peppery leaf that adds colour, texture and an earthy flavour to the crostini.
- Honey – A drizzle of liquid honey adds a little touch of sweetness!
NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Instructions
- Toast bread – Preheat oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C. Lay the baguette slices on a large baking tray and drizzle with the two tablespoons of olive oil. Bake in the oven for about 8 – 10 minutes or until crisp. Remove from oven and set aside.
- Assemble – Lay the bread slices on a serving platter and top with brie cheese. Next lay one or two slices of apples on top of the brie cheese. Drizzle with honey and top with an arugula leaf.
- Serve – Serve immediately as soon as they have been assembled.

Recipe Tips
- Crisping the bread – I like to do this in the oven just before serving. You can do it in a skillet on the stove over medium heat. Be careful not to burn them as you are crisping them up!
- Prepping the apples – Leave the skin on the apples for texture and colour. Slice them thin! If you would like to do them in advance, just squeeze over a little lemon juice to prevent them from going brown.

Substitutions
- Baguette bread – Alternatively, you can use any kind of rustic bread. Or you can even be extra fancy and make your own from my Baguette Bread recipe!
- Brie cheese – A few great alternatives to Brie cheese would be goat cheese, Camembert cheese or fresh Mozzarella.
- Apples – For a different flavour you could go with pears.
- Honey – Alternatively use balsamic glaze, it works great.
