Substitutions

  • Cheese – Okay, so honestly any kind of cheese that you like will work in this recipe . It all comes down to personal taste. For the stars you could use any kind of sliced cheese like harvarti, Mozzarella, Edam, Cheddar or anything else. For the cocktail sticks, the same goes. You could use feta, cheddar, Swiss and more. Same goes for the cubed cheddar that I used. Any kind of cubed cheese can be used.
  • Ham – I used Spanish Serrano ham. But you could use any kind of cold cuts for this board. Try sliced turkey, ham, prosciutto, salami, pepperoni and much more.
  • Olives – Choose your favourites! I used marinaded green olives because those were the ones I had on hand. You could even use a mix of green and black olives.
  • Nuts – I used a few pecans to make the tree trunk. Feel free to use any kind of nuts like walnuts, almonds and more. Alternatively you could use pretzel sticks to make the trunk.
  • Leafy greens – My choice was arugula leaves for the greenery part of this tree. But anything else would work and you could even use fresh herbs like basil, rosemary or parsley.
