What Is This Fried Rice Dish Like

  • Difficulty – If you’re looking for a straight forward weeknight dinner, make this. It’s pretty easy and from start to finish it’s done in about 40 minutes. The prep work can even be done before hand.
  • Taste – This dish has a great flavour from the sesame oil, soy sauce and all the vegetables that are cooked down until soft. The pork tenderloin adds a nice touch as well.
  • Serving – This will serve between 4 – 6 people depending on how much each person would like. Keep in mind, you can easily adjust the servings in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Ingredients

  • Pork tenderloin – I used a 1 lb pork tenderloin for this recipe. I simply cut it into small cubes. It worked perfect.
  • Salt – Just use a little regular table salt to season the pork before cooking. This will enhance the flavour.
  • Sesame oil – You should be able to find this in most supermarkets. It’s often in the oil section but it might also be found in the section that sells Asian inspired foods and sauces. It has a nutty flavour and is great in stir fry recipes.
  • Garlic – I used fresh minced garlic for an additional punch of flavour.
  • Vegetables – I went with carrots, celery and white onion. I diced them all really small which made for the perfect bite.
  • Eggs – Lightly whisked eggs cooked into fried rice adds flavour, extra protein and bulks it up even more for a main course.
  • Rice – I went with long grain cooked Basmati rice. It worked great for this dish but any long grain rice will work well.
  • Peas – Frozen green peas work great. Just make sure they are thawed before adding to the rice.
  • Soy sauce – And lastly, this dish is finished off by adding any brand of soy sauce for a great flavour. Feel free to add more than the recipe suggests if you like.

NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

The sesame oil really gives fried rice a great flavour and is so unique. Try, if possible, to stick to using sesame oil for fried rice.

Although using a wok is recommended, it isn’t necessary. Just make sure the pan/skillet you are using is large enough to toss around all the ingredients and it doesn’t burn the food at high heat.
