These Very Pink Sweetheart Cookies are perfect for Valentine’s Day. A simple sugar cookie topped with a light pink glaze and love heart sprinkles. Perfect for making with kids.
Whether you’re a romantic at heart or not, cookies are always a great idea. Am I not wrong? And these cute little cookies are just perfect for upcoming Valentine’s Day.
These are fun to make with kids. I made them with mine. Okay, my teens, but they still enjoyed the process for about 5 minutes….hahaha.
If you happen to follow my blog, you’ll know by now that I’m not a decorator at all. I love baking, but seriously lack skills in the decorating department. Have you noticed…hahaha.
But I love to see beautiful decorated cookies and maybe one day I’ll have that skill set too! Ah, who am I kidding.
So, if you are looking for some more professionally decorated Valentine’s cookies, take a look at Sally’s Baking Addiction or I am Baker. Both insanely talented bakers with lots to share.
And if you’ve popped on here today looking for other ideas for Valentine’s Day, have a look around. There are tons of Appetizers and Nibbles to take a look at. Or if you want to surprised you’re special someone with Breakfast in bed, there’s lots of ideas over there too.
I always make dinner at home for Valentine’s Day. A few of my favourite things to make are the Shrimp Linguine and the Seared Pork Medallions. Both dishes are easy to make with quick cooking time.
Perfect!

Very Pink Sweetheart Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 Cups flour
- 1 Cup sugar
- 1/2 Cup butter
- 1 Egg
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 Teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch salt
For the Glaze:
- 2 Cups powdered sugar sugar
- 1/4 Cup milk
- A few drops of red food colouring
- Sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- In the bowl of your electric mixer, mix the butter and sugar on high speed until light and fluffy. This will take about 3-5 minutes. Add in your egg and vanilla and mix well. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt and stir in into the mixture. Don’t over mix. Once you have a cookie dough texture, divide you dough into to equal portions and flatten out to disks. Wrap it in plastic wrap and freeze it for about 15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F. Line two baking trays. Remove your dough from the freezer and leave it for a few minutes before rolling it out. Roll each disk out onto a floured surface, sprinkling a little flour on top of the dough so it doesn't stick to the rolling pin. Don't roll them too thin or they will likely brown and be too hard.
- Using heart cookie cutters, cut them into shapes. I bake them for around 10 minutes turning the tray half way through baking. They do not need to be golden brown to be baked. They will still look quite pale, but this is how you want them. Once removed from the oven they will set and harden and even have a crisp to them. Repeat for all cookies.
Make The Glaze
- Combine the food colouring with the milk and whisk to combine. Then pour this into the bowl with your powdered sugar and stir until combined.
- Dip the cooled cookies face down into the glaze and place on a wire rack. Add sprinkles before galze dries.
- Allow cookies to dry completely before stacking and storing.
