Make this amazing appetizer this fall! Honestly, this is so good, you won’t be able to stop eating…lol. If you have any parties or get togethers coming up this fall, this is what you should be making. It’s easy to make and only uses three ingredients! Serve it alongside the Easy Charcuterie Board for a fancy night in with your family for friends.

What Is This Appetizer Like
- Difficulty – This is a pretty straight forward and easy recipe to make. It has two steps, baking the brie and making the topping. It’s isn’t difficult and takes less than one hour in total.
- Taste – The cheese is creamy and rich and the topping is sweet with the offset of salty pistachios. A wonderful combination.
- Serving – As an Appetizer, this will serve around 8 people. I like to serve it alongside some kind of crackers.

Ingredients
- Brie cheese – Brie cheese is a soft creamy cheese. It has a milk and earthy flavour. You should be able to find it in most supermarkets in the chiller section.
- Pears – Make sure to use really ripe pears for this recipe as they will cook much easier. I used 3 medium sized pears for this recipe. If your pears are pretty large you may only need two.
- Brown sugar – I tossed the pears in brown sugar before adding them to the melted butter. The combination of butter and brown sugar makes a sweet caramel.
- Butter – I used unsalted butter to cook the pears.
- Pistachios – I used salted pistachios to top the caramelized pears.
NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Instructions
- Bake cheese – Preheat oven to 350ºF/180ºC. Place the brie cheese in a deep sided baking dish as place in the oven for 30 – 40 minutes until the brie is soft and somewhat melted in the center. Remove from the oven.
- Coat pears – In a bowl toss the brown sugar with the diced pears.
- Caramelize the pears – In a medium skillet set over medium heat add the butter and bring it to a sizzle, about 1 – 2 minutes. Add the pears and completely coat in the melted butter. Cook down until soft and caramelized, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Assemble and serve – Place the cheese on a serving platter, top with the caramelized pears and chopped pistachios. Serve hot!

Recipe Tips
- Cooking the pears – Make sure to dice them all the same size for even cooking. Toss the pears in sugar before adding them to the melted butter to ensure it creates a perfect caramel sauce.
- Multi task – When the cheese is baking in the oven, make the caramelized pears. Then both components will be ready at the same time.
- Serve hot – This appetizer is best served as soon as it’s assembled. However, it is still good at room temperature.

Substitutions
- Brie cheese – You could also use Camembert cheese, Goat cheese or Feta cheese. All of those varieties bake really well.
- Pistachios – Although pistachios work fantastic for this dish, you could use walnuts or pecans.
