What Can I Do With Lemon Curd
- As a filling – Lemon curd makes a great filling for cake, sandwich cookies, Scones or filled in crepes.
- As a topping – It’s also great as a topping. You can simply just spread it on toast, use it on Waffles, Pancakes or french toast.
- In layered or cold desserts – You can add it to ice cream, yogurt desserts, parfaits, in trifles or add it to puddings.
What Flavours Go Well With Lemon Curd

Lemon curd will last up to two weeks in the fridge. Alternatively, you can freeze homemade lemon curd for up to three months. Just store it in a labelled freezer proof container. Remove and place in the fridge to defrost.
Yes, you can substitute other citrus fruits for lemon curd. You can try oranges, clementines, tangerines, grapefruits or limes. You can also mix citrus fruits for curd.
If the lemon curd has gone bad, the colour will darken. As well, the consistency will change and may become slightly watery. If in doubt, just discard the lemon curd.
The most common reason lemon curd will smell eggy is overcooking or cooking it too fast. So remember to cook it low and slow.
