What Is This Stir Fry Like
- Difficulty – This is a pretty quick and easy dinner to make, it’s all done in 30 minutes. Keep in my mind with stir frys, things happen quickly and you should get everything prepped before you start cooking.
- Taste – The sauce is rich, sweet and a little spicy. the broccoli has a bit of a bite to it and the ground beef is tender and soft.

Ingredients
- Homemade teriyaki sauce – I made a homemade teriyaki sauce for this recipe using soy sauce, water, honey, garlic, ginger and cornstarch.
- Egg noodles – I used regular long thin egg noodles but any kind of egg noodles will work for this recipe.
- Sesame oil – Sesame oil adds a great flavour to stir fry recipes. You can generally buy it at your local supermarket with the other oils.
- Onion – A small white onion diced up small.
- Ground beef –
- Broccoli – Cut into small florets and blanched *
- Sesame seeds – Topping the dish with sesame seeds before serving adds a extra flavor and texture.
NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Instructions
- Make teriyaki sauce – In a small saucepan set over high heat add the soy sauce, water, honey, garlic and ginger. Bring to a simmer, about 2 – 3 minutes. In a small bowl combine the cornstarch and water and stir to combine. Slowly pour the mixture into the sauce until it thickens. This will happen instantly. Stir to completely combine and remove from heat.
- Cook noodles – Cook noodles according to package, drain and set aside.
- Cook ground beef – In a large skillet set over high heat, add the sesame oil and the onion. Stir well to cook down the onion for about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat for about 8 minutes until the meat is fully cooked.
- Assemble dish – Add the broccoli florets, cooked noodles and teriyaki sauce to the beef and cook for a further 2 minutes. Remove from heat and top with sesame seeds.

Recipe Tips
- Prep ahead – Although this recipe is pretty easy and quick, you can do all the prep in advance and keep it on hand in the fridge before you are ready to cook.
- Cooking noodles – Egg noodles cook quickly. The variety I used, cooked in just 4 minutes. If you overcook noodles, they will often stick together. So check the pack that you are using and see the instructions.
- Don’t over cook – Stir frys cook pretty quickly and you want the broccoli to have a bit of a crunch. So, make sure you only cook the broccoli until it’s lightly sauteed and not soft.
- Serve immediately – Serve this as soon as it’s cooked. The broccoli will start to wilt and lose it’s crunch if you leave it to sit around too long.

Substitutions
- Ground beef – Alternatively, you could use ground turkey, ground chicken or ground pork.
- Oil – I used sesame oil because it’s gives a great flavour to the stir fry. Alternatively, you could use any kind of vegetable oil, olive oil or peanut oil.
- Egg noodles – Feel free to use any kind of noodles like rice noodles or udon noodles.

Serving
Friends, this has to be served fresh and hot as soon as it’s cooked. The broccoli will go to mush after a while and it just won’t have a great texture. So make sure to cook it just before you are planning to serve the dish.
