Most cobblers are made with fruit and berries which make them great for using up any seasonal produce that you may have. And if you love really EASY desserts, this one is a winner. Keep reading and make it soon friends!

What Is This Cobbler Like
- Difficulty – This is so easy to make! It uses eight ingredients in total and takes only about 10 minutes to put together.
- Taste – Delicious! The cobbler layer is crisp on the top and really fluffy and sweet. The berries at the bottom have the perfect tartness and texture. An overall 10/10 dessert to make this summer.
- Serving – I feel this can serve up to six people, but if you want bigger portions it will be four servings. At the end of the post in the recipe card, you can easily adjust the serving size.

Ingredients
- Raspberries – I used fresh raspberries to make this easy cobbler.
- Flour – All purpose flour works best for making the cobbler mixture.
- Sugar – I used granulated white sugar in this cobbler. Most of the sugar is added to the cobbler mixture. However, a small amount is reserved to sprinkle over the top.
- Baking powder – This is the best rising agent for the cobbler dough. Always make sure your baking powder is in date and not expired.
- Yogurt – I used plain unsweetened yogurt to add to the cobbler mixture. It gives it more of a dough like consistency than a batter.
- Butter – Melted butter is added, which makes it very easy to stir in. You don’t need to use a mixer as melted butter will just be mixed in my hand in a minute.
- Cornstarch – Cornstarch is sprinkled over the top of the crumble before baking . This does two things. It helps caramelise the top with the sugar. And it thickens the sauce of the berries after it’s baked. So you get a great thick raspberry sauce at the bottom.
- Boiling water – Boiling water is poured over the top of the cobbler just before baking. If you have never made desserts this way and are unsure, trust me! It turns out delicious. My Self Saucing Chocolate Pudding is made in the same way and it’s amazing!

Instructions
- Preheat oven – Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a deep sided 8 inch baking dish. Add the raspberries to the greased baking dish and set aside.
- Make biscuit topping – In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 Cup/100 grams of the sugar and baking powder. Add the melted butter and yogurt. Mix until a you have a thick batter consistency. Spoon over the entire surface of the raspberries.
- Assemble cobbler – In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and remaining sugar. sprinkle this evenly over the batter and pour over boiling water.
- Bake – Bake for approximately 30 โ 40 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the cake part should come out with moist crumbs.
- Serving – Serve hot or warm with cream or ice cream.

Recipe Tips
- Watch baking time – The cobbler will be fully baked when a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out with a few crumbs. This will be between 30 – 40 minutes. I’ve baked this cobbler in two different ovens for testing and the results varied depending on the oven.
- Best to serve fresh – The syrup from the fruit will absorb into the cobbler mixture after it sits for a long time. It’s best to serve it within a few hours of baking. But will keep stored in the fridge up to 3 – 4 days.

Substitutions and Flavour Changes
- Raspberries – I used fresh raspberries but you can easily use frozen raspberries without changing the flavour or texture of the recipe.
- Yogurt – I mixed unsweetened plain yogurt into the batter. Alternatively, you could use sour cream or even whole milk. Both will work great.
- Other berries – You can easily change the flavour of this cobbler by using other berries. Strawberries, blueberries and blackberries will always work great.

Serving
- Hot out of the oven – I enjoyed this fresh out of the oven with some whipped cream on the side. It was delish. You could even top it with ice cream if you like.
- At room temperature – If you planning to bring this to a potluck, barbecue or any summer event, yes itโs delicious at room temperature. Much like fruit pies, this can be eaten at room temperature no problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
Aย Cobbler is a fruit dessertย made from a cooked fruit base topped with a biscuit, scone or dumpling topping. It came about in America from the British settlers that couldnโt get their hands on ingredients to make traditional suet desserts.
While pies and cobblers are similar in using fruit or berries, they are very different in the way they are made. Pies have a bottom and top crust and are more labour intensive and time consuming. Cobblers have just a topping of biscuit dough and they are fuss free to make.
