How to Make These No Bake Christmas Treats

  • Melt butter– in a large pot set over medium heat, add the butter and stir until it melts. This will take about 2 minutes or so.
  • Add marshmallows – add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir immediately. A wooden spoon works best. I used large marshmallows because I couldn’t find any mini ones. Mini marshmallows works best. Continue to stir until they have completely melted. Depending on if you use mini marshmallows or large ones will depend on how long it takes.

  • Add vanilla extract – when the marshmallows are melted, remove from heat and immediately add the vanilla and the salt. Stir to combine.
  • Pour in the rice krispies – do this immediately and continue to stir until they are completely combined. This will be a little hard to stir and quite sticky.

  • Spoon mixture onto tray – tip the rice kirispie mixture onto your prepared baking dish. This will be sticky. For best results, dip a spoon in water to flatten out the rice kirispie mixture. Make sure to cover the entire pan.
  • Add sprinkles. – I added the sprinkles at this stage to ensure they would stick to the topping.
  • Leave to set – leave it to set on the counter for at least an hour.

  • Cut into shapes – okay, here you can be as creative as you like. I used a 3 inch star cutter for these cookies. You can use something bigger or smaller. And you can cut them into whatever shapes you like. Personally, I like the stars with a hint of blue.
  • Tips for cutting – The cookie cutter will stick to the treats, so keep this in mind when cutting them out. You will need to push it out through the cookie cutter. To make it a little easier, you can dip the cookie cutter in a little water (shake off excess water), and then cut them out.

Tips For Storing Rice Krispie Treats

Like many people, I’m no stranger to making batches of these. And I’ve learned along the way how to store them for the best possible taste and texture. Without doubt, they are best the day they are made. So please keep this in mind when making them.

  • Store in an airtight container – Use a container that fits them pretty snug. Layer parchment paper between the layers so they don’t stick together. Store them at room temperature on the counter. They will stay fresh up to three days.
  • DO NOT STORE IN THE FRIDGE – They go dry in the fridge, so it’s best not to store them in the fridge. Room temperature is best.
