Who’s ready for another quick, easy and delicious dinner! If I can tick all those boxes with dinner, I know I’ve won. This sounds like a cliche, but everyone really did love this dish…lol. That’s not always the case, but this was a winner. You can make this summer and winter alike and have it on the table in under 30 minutes for a Quick Dinner!

What’s This Pasta Dish Like
- Difficulty – This is an easy dish to make that takes only 10 minutes to prep and cooks in about 10 – 15 minutes.
- Taste – This is a decadent dish that has a strong garlic flavour. It’s very creamy and rich tasting.
- Serving – This makes 4 servings as a main course. You have to serve this dish fresh from the stove for best results. In the recipe card at the end of the post you can change the serving size to suit your dinner table!

Ingredients
- Tagliatelle – I used tagliatelle which was the perfect fit for this creamy pasta dish.
- Butter – I used unsalted butter as the base for making the sauce.
- Garlic – Please use fresh minced garlic for this recipe as it will give a fantastic flavour.
- Flour – A small amount of flour is added to the butter and cooked for about a minute. The way it’s done in a Roux Sauce.
- Liquids – I used both chicken broth for flavour and heavy cream for the creaminess in the sauce.
- Salt – Add just 1/2 teaspoon to the sauce to enhance the flavour. Salt always brings out flavour!
- Parmesan cheese – This is a must for the sauce, so don’t skip out on it!
- Parsley – My most used and versatile herb for so many dishes.
NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Instructions
- Cook pasta – Cook pasta in boiling water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Cook butter, garlic and flour – While the pasta is cooking, make the sauce. In a large skillet set over medium heat, add the butter until it sizzles, about one minute. Add the minced garlic and give a really good stir. It will become fragrant quite quickly, about one minute. Add the flour and stir quickly to form a paste.
- Make sauce – Gradually, start pouring in the chicken broth. Whisk a you pour to ensure there are no lumps. After you have incorporated all of the chicken broth, start pouring in the heavy cream. Again, whisk as you pour to ensure an even sauce. This entire process should only take about 2 – 3 minutes.
- Assemble dish – Add the cooked tagliatelle, salt, cheese and parsley. Stir really well to incorporate. Serve fresh with extra parmesan and parsley if desired.

Recipe Tips
- Multi task – As soon as you put your pasta on to cook, get going on the sauce. This means that the sauce and the pasta should both be done at about the same time.
- Slowly add the liquid – It’s important to slowly add the broth and cream and whisk as you pour. This will ensure that the sauce is smooth with no lumps.
- Adjust garlic to taste – This dish has a huge garlic flavour. You can use less or more garlic, whatever you like the best.

Substitutions, Additions and Flavour Changes
- Tagliatelle – You can use spaghetti, linguine, pappardelle or fettuccine.
- Heavy cream – You can make this dish a little lighter by using half and half or even milk. Just keep in mind the consistency will change a little. If you want a lighter dish, you might like the Garlic Parmesan Spaghetti!
- Chicken broth – You can use vegetable broth.
- Additions – Feel free to add cooked chicken, shrimp or even ham to make this a more filling dinner. Shredded chicken or diced chicken will work great.

Serving
- Salads – A fresh salad to go on the side of this would work really well. Why not take a look at the Mediterranean Tossed Salad or the Classic Caprice Salad.
- Breads – Of course you can serve with pasta! Garlic Knots are one of our family favourites and even the Rustic Loaf would be great.
- As part of a bigger main course – Yes, this pasta dish would also work as a side in smaller portions. I think it would work wonderful with the Stuffing Topped Roasted Turkey Tenderloin or even the Stove Top Lemon Chicken.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both tagliatelle and fettuccine are long ribbon pastas. The main difference is that tagliatelle contains egg whereas fettuccine does not contain egg.
I get asked this question all the time. The prep time includes exactly how much time it takes to prepare the ingredients for cooking. For example, chopping, peeling, mixing, etc. It does not include the time it takes to get yourself organised, get pots and pans and get ingredients in place. It also does not include any cooking time.
