No, you do not need to wash mushrooms before consuming or cooking. In fact washing mushrooms will possibly make them soggy. It’s best to just brush off obvious dirt and trim the stems.
Can you freeze mushrooms?
It is not recommended to freeze fresh mushrooms. Mushrooms have a high water content and when defrosted the mushrooms will be soggy. However, you can successfully freeze cooked mushrooms. They will last in the freezer for about two months.
