Chicken wings are always a great appetizer to make for parties and get togethers. My family pretty much love all kinds of wings including the Cajun Dry Rub Chicken Wings and the Sticky Honey Garlic Wings. These were just fantastic and so easy. They took no time to put together and then they are just popped in the oven for an easy life.

What’s Great About These Baked Wings

  • Healthier Because these wings are baked not fried, they have less fat and less calories!
  • Quick prep time You can have these put together in just 5 minutes.
  • Easy marinade – the marinade is put together in minutes and the wings can be baked as soon as you marinade them.
  • Crispy even without frying, these wings are crispy every single time.

The Ingredients

  • Chicken wings – I used pre cut wings for this recipe, but you could purchase them whole and cut the tips off and then cut them in half.
  • Olive oil – you can use olive oil or vegetable oil for this recipe. I used extra virgin olive oil
  • Marinade – This is a homemade spice blend made of sweet paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt and pepper.

  1. Preheat oven – Preheat oven to 375 degrees F/190 C. Have ready a large baking tray.
  2. Make wing marinade – Combine the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Stir to combine
  3. Coat the wings – Toss the wings in a large bowl and pour over the marinade. Completely coat all the wings in the marinade.
  4. Bake – Place the wings on the baking tray. Bake for 45 – 50 minutes or until cooked through and crispy on the outside.
  5. Serve – Serve hot with your favourite dipping sauces.

Other Ways To Cook The Chicken Wings

  • Deep Fryer -Yes, you can cook these in a deep fryer. Remember, this will be super quick. If going down this route, preheat the oil and test one wing. If it sizzles when it hits the oil, it’s ready to cook. Wings will deep fry in about 7 – 8 minutes.
  • Barbecue -Or you might prefer to cook them on the barbecue with it being summer and all. Easy. We’ll go down the gas barbecue route because that’s the kind I use. Barbecue them over a medium heat. You don’t want it too high or you’ll risk burning them before they are cooked. I’d recommend cooking them at about 12- 14 minutes per side. They will be done when they reach an internal temp of 165 degrees F/75 C.

Recipe Tips For Perfect Wings

  • Pat the wings dry – before adding the marinade to the chicken wings, make sure to pat them dry with paper towels. This will ensure the marinade sticks on properly.
  • Flip the wings half way through baking – by flipping the wings you will ensure they are crispy all over.
  • Make sure the oven is hot – if the temperature is is too low, the wings won’t crisp up. So make sure you bake them at the correct temperature.

Notes

NOTE:  This is a thick paste like marinade. I find it best to use my hands to completely coat the wings. You could wear disposal gloves if you don’t want to get in a mess. Alternatively, you could put them in a zip lock bag with the marinade and give it a good shake around.
