Instructions
- Preheat oven – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Have ready 4 ramekins and a large baking tray.
- Peel and dice the apples – For these little pots, I like to dice the apples small. These are about 1 inch pieces. Roughly. Place the apple pieces in a bowl and sprinkle over the cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Coat completely.
- Cook apples – Melt one tablespoon of butter in a medium skillet set over medium heat. Add the apples and give a good stir. Cook between 8 – 10 minutes until they are soft and lightly golden. Remove from heat.
- Make crumble topping – In a medium bowl, combine the flour, remaining butter and sugar. Press together with your fingers until you have a fine crumb mixture.
- Fill ramekins and bake – Evenly fill the ramekins with apples and top with crumb mixture. Place on a baking tray. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until golden and apples have cooked all the way through.
- Serve – Remove and let cool 5 minutes before serving.
Recipe Tips For The Apple Crumble
- Cut the apples evenly – to ensure even cooking, make sure you cut your apples pretty much the same size. And don’t slice them too thin or the crumble will end up being mushy.
- Don’t over mix the crumble mixture – the idea is to have a crumbly topping. If you over mix, you will end up with a pastry like consistency.
- Place ramekins on a baking tray – this is the easiest way to get the crumbles into an oven. Don’t try to place them individually onto the rack in the oven.
- Prepare in advance – you can put these together early in the day and bake later in the evening. Just keep them covered in the fridge until you bake them.
- How to store leftover crumble – cover it completely and store it in the fridge up to 5 days.
- How to reheat leftover apple crumble – reheat it in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes.

thank you

Hi Sally, I’ve had the ramekins for years and years and I can’t even remember where they came from. My husband got them for me one year at least 10 years ago. Sorry for the lack of help!
